Stephen C. Longenecker, MD
A native of Berks County, Dr. Longenecker is noted as one of the top orthopedic care physicians and surgeons in the region. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In addition to many other awards and accolades, Dr. Longenecker is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and a long-standing member of the Pennsylvania and Berks County Medical Societies.

Kenneth J. McAlpine, Jr., MD
Dr. McAlpine joined Bone and Joint Care Center in August 2019, bringing with him his expertise and training in the latest advancements in orthopedic care like 3D total joint replacement. Trained in comprehensive orthopedic care, including fracture and emergency care, his focus is on robotic-assisted total joint replacement as well as lower-extremity adult reconstruction. Additionally, Dr. McAlpine is highly experienced in joint revision surgery and the evaluation of painful or infected total joints. He is also certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Christopher W.V. Schumacher, MD
Dr. Christopher Schumacher joined Bone & Joint Care Center in 2024, bringing with him experience in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. With a strong background in treating athletes and active individuals. Dr. Schumacher was the Program Director of Sports Medicine and Division Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at a local hospital. His specialties include sports-related injuries, minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, and joint preservation techniques. Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Schumacher has served as a team physician for various high school and collegiate athletic programs, including Conrad Weiser High School, Penn State University - Berks, Alvernia University, Albright College, and Wake Forest University

Denise M. Donahue, MD
Dr. Donahue is a Pennsylvania native and a graduate of Temple University School of Medicine, with over 30 years of experience specializing in urgent care and orthopedics. Dr. Donahue joined the Bone & Joint Care Center in 2016, where she provides non-surgical orthopedic care to our patients.

Daniel S. Hawkins, PA-C
Daniel earned his Bachelor of Science in Medical Studies and his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at DeSales University. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Physician Assistant Society (PSPA) and the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). Joining the Bone & Joint Care Center team in 2018, Daniel is responsible for providing both pre-and post-operative care to patients in the office as well as assisting Dr. Longenecker during surgeries. Daniel is eager to provide exceptional and compassionate healthcare in every patient encounter. He feels honored to work with such an incredible staff and patient population.
Jessica A. Ertel, PA-C
Jessica earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Science from James Madison University. She then went on to complete her Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Emory and Henry College, graduating in 2020. Additionally, she is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and is certified in cardiac life support. Jessica joined Bone & Joint Care Center in 2021 and is excited to bring a fresh perspective to healthcare and our patients. Jessica works closely with our team of doctors to ensure patients receive the best care possible and looks forward to helping you get back to living a more active lifestyle.

Bryce A. Petersheim, PA-C
Bryce is a 2017 graduate of the Pennsylvania College of Technology, having earned his Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies, with a minor in Biology. He holds certifications from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Pennsylvania Medical Physician Assistant License, and Pennsylvania Osteopathic Physician Assistant License. Bryce is also certified in Basic Life Support and holds a Controlled Substance Registration Certificate.
